Flaky, tender salmon fillets baked with crisp asparagus spears in a rich lemon-garlic butter sauce on a single sheet pan in under 25 minutes.
Ingredients
Salmon & Asparagus:
- 4 skin-on salmon fillets (approx. 6 ounces each, 1 inch thick)
- 1 pound fresh asparagus, woody ends trimmed
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt (divided)
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Lemon Garlic Butter Glaze:
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
- 1 lemon, sliced into thin rounds
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)
Equipment
- Large rimmed sheet pan (18x13 inches)
- Parchment paper sheets
- Small glass mixing bowl
- Silicone pastry brush
- Kitchen tongs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C) and line large rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Pat salmon fillets dry on all sides with paper towels so garlic butter sticks and fish browns evenly.
- Arrange salmon fillets skin-side down down center of parchment-lined light sheet pan.
- Snap off woody ends of fresh asparagus and arrange spears in single layer surrounding salmon fillets on light sheet pan with parchment.
- Whisk melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and pepper in small bowl until blended.
- Brush two-thirds of lemon garlic butter over tops and sides of salmon fillets using silicone brush.
- Drizzle remaining lemon garlic butter over asparagus, tossing with tongs to coat spears evenly and sprinkling with remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- Top each salmon fillet with 1 to 2 thin lemon slices pressed into garlic butter layer.
- Bake at 425°F for 12 to 14 minutes until salmon flakes easily with fork at thickest part and asparagus tips turn crisp-tender with light golden edges.
- Remove light sheet pan with parchment from oven, garnish immediately with fresh chopped parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.

Chef's Tips
- Avoid Overcooking Salmon: Check salmon at 12 minutes with fork; it should flake easily and center should be opaque pink.
- Easy Substitutions: Swap asparagus for green beans or broccolini; swap salmon for trout fillets or cod.
- Storage & Reheating: Store leftovers in airtight container up to 2 days; reheat covered gently at 300°F in oven to keep fish tender.
